Filipino conglomerates San Miguel Corp. and Ayala Corp. ranked first and third, respectively, as most sought after employers by jobseekers in the country, while global IT firm Accenture ranked second, with workers are looking to join companies with good reputation, good values and work schedule, according to a recent Employee Job Happiness Index 2024 survey.
The survey conducted by leading online job portal Jobstreet by SEEK reveals the top companies in the country that Filipino jobseekers desire to be employed in.
Rounding up the top ten companies are Google, JP Morgan Chase & Co., SM Development Corporation (SMDC), Nestle, Globe, P&G, Aboitiz, Amazon, Banco de Oro (BDO), and Emapta.
From the government sector, the most desirable government agencies or non-government organization to work in are the Asian Development Bank, followed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
Included in the list of government agencies and NGOs are the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the United Nations, the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Department of Agriculture (DA), the US Embassy, Commission on Audit, Philippine Ports Authority, and the Department of Finance (DOF), among others.
Company values
Jobseekers ranked work schedule or location, company reputation, and company values as the top traits they are looking for in their search for a new company or organization to work with. They also considered the work culture, monetary and non-monetary benefits, and job security, among others.
Though a company’s work schedule, reputation, and values are top traits to consider when it comes to attracting potential talent, retaining that talent is another matter.
The survey found out that salary increases (39%), better working hours/time flexibility (13%), getting a promotion (13%), and holiday/vacation leaves (12%) are the main needle-movers in boosting employee morale within a company, with employees saying that they would be happier in the next six months if they are to receive these benefits.
Hirers may consider these benefits as drivers toward employee retention, as keeping morale within an organization helps preserve job satisfaction and in turn, employee retention. These benefits may also attract future jobseekers in the long run, as employees may be inspired to share their positive experiences with people around them. Word-of-mouth remains one of the main platforms for candidates to consider a company they want to work for.
“We at Jobstreet by SEEK believe that hirers may reach a whole new pool of potential talent to their organizations by considering new approaches to hiring and promoting open positions. We also continue to provide hirers tips and guidance on how to promote their companies in various platforms, while also providing jobseekers some key skills in promoting their talent,” shared Dannah Majarocon, Managing Director of Jobstreet by SEEK in the Philippines.
