The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) and the World Bank have strengthened their long-standing collaboration by signing a Statement of Cooperation to promote environmental sustainability and enhance regulatory transparency in the logistics sector.
This partnership underscores their shared commitment to addressing the evolving challenges and opportunities presented by global trade, environmental imperatives, and regulatory complexities.
Building on years of cooperation, this Statement of Cooperation lays the foundation for transformative initiatives that promote sustainable logistics practices worldwide. Central to this collaboration is developing an innovative dashboard of sustainable logistics regulations.
Based on a comprehensive survey conducted with FIATA Members, this dashboard will provide detailed insights into the quality and impact of regulations across dimensions such as environmental impact, regulatory entry, operational practices, and digital integration. The initiative aligns with the OECD Services Trade Restrictiveness Index (STRI), in collaboration with the World Trade Organization (WTO).
FIATA Director General, Stéphane Graber, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating: “This Statement of Cooperation with the World Bank is a testament to FIATA’s commitment to fostering sustainable practices within the logistics sector.
