Philippine Ports Authority recognized as top Employer by Filipino jobseekers

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has made it to one of the most sought-after government agencies by Filipino jobseekers, according to the recent Employee Job Happiness Index 2024 survey conducted by Jobstreet by SEEK.

This recognition underscores PPA’s commitment to cultivating an inclusive, dynamic, and growth-oriented work environment that attracts and retains top talent nationwide.

The survey findings reveal that Filipino jobseekers prioritize work-life balance, company reputation, and shared values when considering potential employers.

PPA’s inclusion among esteemed institutions such as the Asian Development Bank, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and the Department of Education in this list is a testament to its strong employer brand and alignment with these key priorities.

PPA’s Human Resources Management Department (HRMD) plays a crucial role in driving employee development through a comprehensive suite of training and development programs.

Since 2016, the agency has invested significantly in employee growth by providing numerous local and international scholarships. In 2023 alone, PPA granted 278 foreign and 136 local scholarships to its employees, empowering them with enhanced skills and knowledge aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.

These initiatives are complemented by in-house training programs and interventions focused on building core competencies and preparing employees for professional examinations through the Career Enrichment Program (CEP). PPA’s successful transition to hybrid learning platforms post-pandemic further demonstrates its adaptability and commitment to continuous improvement.

PPA’s success in workforce management can be attributed to its adherence to the Civil Service Commission’s PRIME-HRM program, ensuring that recruitment, selection, and performance management systems are efficient, merit-based, and transparent. This commitment to excellence in human resource practices earned PPA the Civil Service Commission’s PRIME-HRM Bronze Award in 2018.

“As we continue to modernize our port facilities, we prioritize investing in our people – both within and outside of port operations,” said PPA General Manager Jay Santiago. “We recognize that our employees are our greatest asset, and we are proud that PPA is consistently recognized as a leading government agency for its best-in-class HR practices.”

Beyond fostering a positive work environment, PPA actively promotes corporate social responsibility through meaningful initiatives. A recent example is the 2024 Christmas CSR drive and outreach program in Agoncillo, Batangas, where PPA employees distributed gifts and provided support to families affected by Typhoon Kristine.
