Pres. Marcos Jr. seeks funding for key gov’t projects

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured the public on Friday, Jan. 17, that his administration is actively seeking alternative measures to secure adequate funding for essential government projects, despite what he described as a “suboptimal” 2025 national budget.

“We are identifying savings to restore funding for projects that were significantly reduced in the National Expenditure Program (NEP),” President Marcos stated.

The President made these remarks during the ceremonial turnover of completed Yolanda Permanent Housing Projects in Leyte, Samar, and Biliran. When asked about the 2025 national budget, he emphasized the administration’s commitment to securing funding for critical sectors such as education, healthcare, housing, and other priority programs.

“This is our current focus. As I mentioned, the original budget can be described as suboptimal. We are working to make it optimal once again,” Marcos said.

Recently, President Marcos convened various government agencies at the Malacañan Palace to review their respective 2025 budget allocations.
