Grab Philippines has made a significant leap in its commitment to inclusivity with the introduction of Grab CommuniKit, a dedicated communication tool for deaf driver-partners. This innovative in-vehicle visual communication kit is designed to bridge the communication gap between passengers and deaf driver-partners, ensuring a seamless and comfortable ride for all.
The Grab CommuniKit consists of a thoughtfully curated set of postcards featuring commonly used phrases and requests during GrabCar rides. These easy-to-read postcards aim to facilitate communication on various topics, such as directions, drop-off points, and special requests like air conditioning adjustments.
Co-created with esteemed organizations advocating for the deaf, such as DeafED Philippines, the National Association of Sign Language Interpreters, and the community of PWD Grab driver-partners, the Grab CommuniKit adheres to industry standards for effective communication tailored to the needs of deaf individuals.
Ronald Roda, Grab Philippines Country Head, expressed the company’s dedication: “In championing inclusive success for everyone in the digital economy, we ensure that nobody is left behind. As we create livelihood opportunities for tens of thousands of our fellow Filipinos, we also aim to empower marginalized groups, such as deaf drivers, to seize the same tech-enabled opportunities—enabling them to achieve their aspirations while contributing as integral members of our fleet, regardless of their disability.”
With the Grab CommuniKit, Grab Philippines continues to set the benchmark for inclusivity in the transportation sector, providing equitable opportunities and enhancing the riding experience for all.
