Cambodian Ambassador to the Philippines Phan Peuv expressed his gratitude to the Philippine government for its unwavering support and commitment during his tenure, emphasizing the importance of such cooperation for the mutual interests of both nations.
“For the past three years, I have had the privilege of working alongside you to enhance our bilateral relations and foster collaboration in key areas. The recent official visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stands as a testament to our growing partnership,” Phan told President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during his farewell call at Malacañang.
Phan, who presented his credentials on May 25, 2022, described his assignment in the Philippines as a great honor, highlighting the warmth and hospitality he received throughout his tenure.
His departure comes shortly after a two-day official visit by Prime Minister Hun Manet and his delegation earlier this week. During the visit, President Marcos and Hun Manet reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in agriculture, education, trade, and investment.
President Marcos acknowledged the ambassador’s contributions, particularly in the context of the successful and productive discussions held with Hun Manet.
“In our engagements at ASEAN and APEC meetings, Prime Minister Hun Manet and I have always found ourselves discussing many shared interests between our countries,” Marcos said. “This naturally led to the productive meetings we had during his recent visit.”
The Philippines and Cambodia established diplomatic relations in 1957. Over the decades, their partnership has evolved, deepening not only through bilateral cooperation but also within the broader framework of regional collaboration.
