CMA CGM’s bora med service expands to Syrian ports and AD ports group partners with CMA CGM to develop key terminal in Congo

CMA CGM – Short Sea Lines Division is excited to announce an expansion of its Bora Med Service (BMS) starting from Week 7, which will now include Syrian ports in its route. Beginning on February 10, 2025, the revamped service will offer enhanced capacity while maintaining its existing rotation, linking Syria to global trade networks with connections from Malta, Alexandria, and Beirut. This addition aims to bolster maritime connectivity, providing a comprehensive and sustainable link between Türkiye, the Adriatic region, and the Eastern Mediterranean.

In a separate development, AD Ports Group, a leader in integrated trade, transport, and logistics solutions, has entered into a shareholders’ agreement with the CMA CGM Group. This partnership, facilitated through CMA Terminals, will focus on the joint development, management, and operation of the New East Mole multipurpose terminal at the Port of Pointe Noire, Congo-Brazzaville. AD Ports Group secured a 30-year extendable concession for this project in June 2023.

The new venture, which is majority-owned by AD Ports Group, will manage a terminal that serves as the Central West African region’s primary Atlantic port. The terminal will handle a wide range of cargo, including containers, general cargo, breakbulk, and more. As part of the first phase, AD Ports Group plans to invest approximately USD 220 million (AED 807 million) in constructing a 400-meter quay wall with a depth of 16 meters, as well as a 10-hectare logistics area.

This agreement further strengthens the collaboration between AD Ports Group and CMA CGM, following the recent inauguration of CMA Terminals at Khalifa Port in December 2024. This AED 3.1 billion (USD 845 million) terminal is set to increase Khalifa Port’s container capacity by 33%, adding 2.6 million Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) by 2024.
