President Marcos urges Iloilo officials to collaborate on Infrastructure Development

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called on local government leaders in Iloilo to strengthen their collaboration with the national government in advancing infrastructure projects across the province.

Speaking at the Regional Development Council (RDC) meeting in Iloilo City on Thursday, President Marcos emphasized the vital role of local chief executives in driving regional progress and improving the well-being of their communities.

“No one knows your area better than the governor and mayors, and your input is always invaluable to us,” President Marcos said. “If there’s anything you want to address—whether it’s a challenge or a promising idea—don’t hesitate to share it with us. We are always open to considering your suggestions.”

During the meeting, the President received updates on several key infrastructure projects in Western Visayas, including the rehabilitation of the Boracay Circumferential Road and the Jalaur River Multipurpose Project Stage III.

He also reviewed developments in the Panay-Guimaras-Negros Island Bridge Project, the Panay Railway System, the Boracay Bridge Project, and the road widening initiative along Jaime Cardinal Sin Avenue in Aklan.

Local officials provided further insights into other important projects, such as the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway, the Panay East-West Road, the Panay River Basin Integrated Development Project, and the Iloilo-Capiz-Aklan Expressway.

“This meeting has been extremely valuable,” President Marcos remarked. “It is crucial for us at the national level to hear directly from the locals. Whether it’s a major national initiative or smaller-scale projects, your feedback is essential for our decision-making.”

The President reiterated his commitment to supporting all priority infrastructure projects in Western Visayas, reaffirming the national government’s dedication to regional development
