Bacolod Team B may have fallen short of making history, but they still had plenty to celebrate after clinching the Founders Division title at the Philippine Airlines Senior Interclub, held at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club on Thursday.
After leading for the first two days, Bacolod experienced some setbacks in the final rounds, ultimately holding off a late surge from Orchard to secure the win by a narrow margin of just one point.
Bacolod finished with a total of 550 points, thanks to standout performances from Armando Eso (48), Calixto de Leon (44), and Woo Sung Seo (42). The team closed out with a 134-point effort at the host course, the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club.
Orchard, playing at the Bacolod Golf Club, made a strong push with 142 points, ending the competition with 549 points. Leading Orchard’s charge were Leo Batoon (49), Young Sook Kim (48), and Luis Sajorda (47).
Negros Occidental Team A took third place with 534 points.
In the Aviator Division, Apo Golf dominated the competition, finishing 13 points clear of Veterans with a final score of 471. PAR 2000 Golf Club finished third with 453 points.
The Sportswriter Class saw San Juanico post a commanding victory, winning by a 22-point margin over Bacolod Team B. PGA British Columbia rounded out the top three with a score of 381.
SF East Bay triumphed in the Friendship Class despite incurring 14 penalty points. The team accumulated 332 points, edging out Seattle by four points. Fil Oz Sydney finished third with 298 points.
