AirAsia Philippines sees passenger surge amid Taiwan’s cherry blossom season

As Taiwan’s cherry blossoms reach full bloom and cool weather draws in more travelers, AirAsia Philippines is experiencing a surge in passenger traffic and forward bookings for the first quarter of 2025.

From January to March 2025, the airline has already flown 90% of the total passengers it carried to Taiwan during the same period in 2024—underscoring the growing demand for Taiwan as a top travel destination this year.

To cater to this increasing interest, AirAsia Philippines offers twice-daily flights from Manila to Taipei and three weekly flights to Kaohsiung, ensuring affordable and convenient travel for Filipinos eager to witness Taiwan’s stunning cherry blossoms, which typically bloom until early April.

Top Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots in Taiwan

One of the best places to experience Taiwan’s breathtaking cherry blossoms is the Sanzhi Cherry Blossom Trail. Spanning 70 kilometers of scenic roads in Sanzhi, this picturesque route is lined with over 15,000 cherry trees—primarily the indigenous Taiwan cherry variety, as noted by the Taiwan Tourism Administration. During peak season, the mountains are transformed into a mesmerizing sea of red, white, and pink, making Sanzhi one of Taiwan’s most sought-after cherry blossom destinations.

AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Head, First Officer Steve Dailisan, highlighted the airline’s commitment to making travel seamless and accessible:

“Travel demand consistently rises as winter begins, peaking in January and February when Taiwan’s cool weather is at its best. This is a special time for our guests, and we’re proud to be part of their journeys—helping them create priceless memories, not just beautiful photos.”
