MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy celebrates second commencement ceremony, honoring future maritime leaders

MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy Inc. (MMMA), a premier merchant marine academy jointly operated by MOL and Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC), proudly held its second commencement ceremony at its campus in Dasmariñas City, Philippines. The event was attended by approximately 530 guests, including esteemed figures such as former Senator Manny Pacquiao, Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Endo Kazuya, A. Magsaysay, Inc. President and CEO Doris Magsaysay Ho, and MOL Executive Vice President Toshiaki Tanaka.

The ceremony marked the graduation of MMMA’s second batch of students, who completed the academy’s rigorous curriculum, including shipboard training. In his address, MOL Executive Vice President Tanaka expressed deep gratitude to the school community and the families of the graduates for their unwavering support. He encouraged the graduates to apply their knowledge and experience in ensuring vessel safety, emphasizing their vital role in protecting lives, cargo, and the environment while contributing to global development.

As a symbolic gesture of growth and sustainability, Tanaka planted mango trees on the campus grounds, underscoring MOL’s commitment to environmental preservation and the continuous advancement of the academy and its stakeholders.

Approximately half of the graduating class will soon embark on careers aboard MOL Group-operated vessels as third officers and third engineers after obtaining their maritime licenses. With the increasing sophistication of ship operations, Filipino seafarers remain integral to the MOL Group’s global fleet, taking on crucial responsibilities in maintaining safe and efficient maritime transport.

MOL remains dedicated to fostering world-class maritime professionals through MMMA’s comprehensive four-year education and training program. This initiative aligns with the MOL Group’s sustainability commitment to “contribute to the growth and development of people and communities,” reinforcing its role as a responsible leader in the maritime industry.
