Xpress teams up with BYD-ACMobility to offer EV ownership for drivers

Xpress, the Philippines’ rapidly expanding ride-hailing platform, has announced a strategic alliance with BYD and ACMobility to offer drivers access to electric vehicle (EV) ownership to accelerate EV adoption in the country.

To accelerate this shift, Xpress is launching a compelling limited-time 0% commission program for drivers utilizing EVs and hybrid vehicles. This initiative allows drivers to retain 100% of their earnings, significantly reducing their investment recovery period and immediately realizing the financial advantages of sustainable mobility.

Recognizing the financial hurdles associated with EV adoption, Xpress has introduced the Negosyo Program. This program provides drivers with access to an initial batch of hybrid and electric vehicles, creating a tangible pathway into the EV ecosystem.

Furthermore, Xpress has partnered with Cebuana Lhuillier’s Ka Negosyo Program, offering exclusive, tailored financing options for Xpress driver partners. This collaboration ensures affordable payment terms for EV and hybrid vehicle purchases, initially focusing on Metro Manila and expanding to other key cities nationwide.

“The future of urban transport is sustainable, and Xpress is leading the charge,” stated Cliff Cabungcal, President of Xpress, at the event. “Our partnership with BYD allows us to integrate premier EV technology, while our driver-centric programs ensure a seamless and profitable transition.”

Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, CEO of ACMobility, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing, “Xpress is pioneering a forward-thinking approach in the Philippine ride-hailing industry. Their dedication to sustainability and driver empowerment aligns perfectly with ACMobility’s vision. Our substantial investment in EV charging infrastructure ensures this transition is not only feasible but also practical for drivers across the country.”

ACMobility’s investment of over $100 million in expanding EV charging networks will provide Xpress EV drivers with reliable charging access, even in previously underserved regions.

Jean Henri Lhuillier, Chairman of Xpress, reinforced the company’s leadership in EV adoption, stating, “This transition is about more than sustainability; it’s about empowering our drivers with better earnings, reduced operating costs, and financial stability. Our 0% commission program, coupled with Cebuana Lhuillier’s Ka Negosyo Program, offers a clear and accessible path to EV ownership.”
