To combat surging passenger traffic at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) has significantly expanded its inter-terminal shuttle bus fleet, now totaling 12 new vehicles. This move directly addresses the airport’s exceeding capacity, which saw 50.1 million travelers in 2024—a 10.43% jump from 2023 and a surpassing of pre-pandemic levels.
“With NAIA operating beyond its intended capacity, we’re taking immediate action to enhance passenger experience,” stated NNIC President Ramon S. Ang. “Expanding our shuttle fleet provides crucial accessibility and convenience while major infrastructure upgrades progress.”
These free, 24/7 shuttles streamline transfers for connecting passengers, reducing wait times and alleviating congestion. They complement NNIC’s broader initiatives, including expanded curbsides and an upgraded traffic system.
Since assuming NAIA operations in September 2024, NNIC, a San Miguel Corporation-led consortium, has also deployed new ambulances, “follow-me” vehicles, and inter-terminal coasters, further improving efficiency and passenger support. These enhancements are part of NNIC’s commitment to modernizing NAIA and driving the Philippines’ tourism and economic growth.
