The Insurance Commission (IC) recently released Advisory No. RS-2025-009, urging the public to explore gender-specific insurance and Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) products designed to address unique health risks. These products cover areas such as maternal care, critical illness, reproductive health services, and gender-specific medical treatments.
“The Commission is committed to supporting initiatives that promote inclusivity, empowerment, and financial resilience by ensuring access to specialized insurance and HMO products that focus on women’s health, financial security, and overall well-being,” said Insurance Commissioner Reynaldo A. Regalado.
“These tailored products offer comprehensive protection to meet the diverse needs of individuals, helping to ensure that both financial security and healthcare remain accessible for everyone,” he added.
In the same advisory, the IC encouraged its supervised industries to develop and offer products specifically addressing gender-based needs. The Commission also strongly urged these industries to create gender-sensitive plans and programs, alongside other related initiatives.
Additionally, the IC emphasized the importance of collecting and analyzing sex-disaggregated data to better understand which insurance and HMO products are best suited to the unique needs of women and men throughout their life cycles and varying financial capabilities.
Advisory No. RS-2025-009, available online at the IC’s official website (www.insurance.gov.ph), also provides a list of approved gender-specific insurance and HMO products along with their key features.
