Uratex, the Philippines’ leading foam and mattress manufacturer, has significantly bolstered its commitment to sustainability by transitioning four additional facilities to 100% renewable energy. This milestone was achieved through a partnership with ACEN RES, the retail electricity arm of the Ayala Group.
The company celebrated this achievement with the unveiling of the prestigious “Powered by Renewable Energy” gold badge awarded by ACEN RES. This badge recognizes Uratex’s leadership in the shift toward clean energy within its industry. Notably, the “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge is the first of its kind in the Philippines, symbolizing a company’s dedication to environmental stewardship through the adoption of renewable energy.
Uratex’s facilities in Magallanes, Shaw, Marcos Highway (Metro Manila), and Isabela are now part of the growing network of locations powered by renewable energy. These four new sites join seven other Uratex facilities across Luzon and Cebu that are already utilizing renewable energy sources under the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP)—a government initiative that allows electricity consumers to switch to renewable energy and select their energy suppliers.
This expansion further strengthens Uratex’s holistic sustainability strategy, which also encompasses the development of innovative products utilizing recycled materials and ongoing enhancements in operational efficiency.
Peachy Cheng-Medina, Managing Director of Uratex Group of Companies, expressed her appreciation for the partnership: “We recognize the importance of strong collaborations, and we are grateful to have ACEN by our side. We admire the Ayala Group’s vision, and we value how their larger goals support our incremental steps toward sustainability. Thank you for inspiring us to keep moving forward.”
Miguel de Jesus, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Philippine Operations at ACEN highlighted the importance of the partnership: “We are thrilled to celebrate Uratex’s expanded commitment to renewable energy. This partnership not only accelerates Uratex’s sustainability journey but also enables ACEN to contribute to the country’s goal of increasing the share of renewables in the energy mix.”
He added, “We look forward to expanding our collaboration beyond energy supply. By nurturing strong partnerships across the Ayala Group—spanning banking, communications, green mobility, and land development—we can unlock new opportunities for innovation and sustainable growth.”
Uratex’s continued commitment to sustainability, in partnership with ACEN, marks an exciting step forward in the journey toward a greener, more sustainable future.
