On the first day of April, MRT-3 General Manager (GM) Michael J. Capati conducted a thorough inspection of the entire MRT-3 line, visiting all stations from North Avenue to ensure the facilities were in optimal condition. The inspection focused on key areas such as escalators, elevators, comfort rooms, and other passenger amenities.
GM Capati also visited the footbridges at Taft Avenue Station, where recent clearing operations were carried out to remove vendors obstructing the passenger walkways. Addressing the importance of these inspections, GM Capati emphasized, “We must understand the situation on the ground to effectively address the concerns of our passengers. We encourage MRT-3 riders to report any issues they encounter so we can respond promptly and ensure that we’re meeting their needs. This is in line with the directives of our Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon.”
In addition to the inspection, MRT-3 also hosted a special event in recognition of Women with Disabilities Day. The event featured a free film screening and a discussion on gender and disability aimed at raising awareness among MRT-3 employees.
Gender and development (GAD) Specialist Nikki Estella, who served as the resource speaker, addressed the challenges faced by women and people with disabilities, highlighting ways to offer support and foster a more inclusive environment. The event also explored potential developments in MRT-3’s programs to better accommodate the diverse needs of all passengers.
The initiative was organized by MRT-3’s Gender and Development (GAD) Team in partnership with the Metrostar Express Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MEMPC), furthering their commitment to promoting inclusivity and social responsibility within the transport system.
