Electric vehicles (xEV) now account for 5.73 percent of total 117,014 car units sold in the first quarter this year, a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) revealed.
For the very first time, the monthly report of CAMPI-TMA, features a specific xEV segment, indicating a growing significance of the new electric vehicle segment.
The joint report showed there were a total of 5,311 units xEVs sold in the first quarter of 2025.
Broken down, hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) account for the biggest share of the pie with 4,544 units, accounting for for 4.90 percent of total.
The battery electric vehicle (BEV) followed with 692 units or 0.75 percent market share while the plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) managed to sell 75 units for 0.08 percent market share.
For the month of March alone, there were a total of 1,895 xEV units sold, comprising of 1,510 units of HEVs; 357 units of BEVs, and 28 units of PHEVs.
