The government is aiming to establish 1,500 Kadiwa ng Pangulo stores across the Philippines by 2028, Presidential Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro announced on Monday.
In a briefing held at Malacañang, Castro said the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expand the reach of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program — an initiative designed to make affordable, high-quality food more accessible to Filipinos.
“From just six post offices that previously hosted Kadiwa pop-up stores, the initiative will now expand to 67 post offices in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao,” Castro said. “The goal is to increase that number to 1,500 stores nationwide by 2028.”
This expansion aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide affordable and quality food products, especially to vulnerable communities.
“In line with President Marcos Jr.’s promise to ensure accessible and reasonably priced food for all, the DA and PHLPost have agreed to broaden the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program’s reach across the country,” Castro added.
Under the agreement, PHLPost will allocate more spaces within its facilities to host Kadiwa stores, supplying the necessary infrastructure and equipment to support operations. Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture will manage logistics and ensure the safety and quality of goods.
With 1,100 post offices nationwide, PHLPost has the potential to serve as a widespread platform for hosting Kadiwa centers in both urban and rural areas.
Kadiwa ng Pangulo stores offer essential commodities such as rice, meat, and fish at lower prices, helping ease the financial burden on Filipino households.
