In a move to enhance its global competitiveness, the NYK Group will merge three of its shipping and ship-management subsidiaries: Asahi Shipping Co., Ltd., Hachiuma Steamship Co., Ltd., and Mitsubishi Ore Transport Co., Ltd. The resulting company will be named NYK Bulkship Partners Co., Ltd. (tentative), with an anticipated amalgamation date of January 2026.
This strategic integration will consolidate similar business functions and strengthen the common ship-management capabilities of the three entities, allowing the NYK Group to leverage their combined strengths in ship ownership, operation, and management. Headquartered in Tokyo with business bases in Tokyo and Kobe, NYK Bulkship Partners will oversee a fleet of 113 vessels (22 owned and 91 managed).
The merger is contingent upon the approval of the shareholders of each company. Further details will be disclosed as they are finalized.
