The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is mulling the construction of a new terminal with roll-on-roll-off capability in San Jose port as part of the overall plan to improve travel of tourists and Antiquenos and connectivity of the Panay island.
On April 25, 2025, DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon inspected the San Jose Port, which is located in San Jose de Buenavista, the capital of Antique province. The port is a regional hub, handling local ferries, breakbulk, and fishing vessels. Dizon was accompanied by Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Santiago.
DOTr cited the big role of the Port of San Jose in boosting tourism in Antique, which is famous for its white beaches, diving spots, and cold springs.
Antique is three hours away to Iloilo City and five to Kalibo, Aklan.
