PASIA Chair calls for supply chain-led investment strategy at Aboitiz InfraCapital industrial summit

Charlie Villasenor, Chairman and CEO of the Procurement and Supply Institute of Asia (PASIA), urged government and industry leaders to rethink the Philippines’ investment strategy by positioning the supply chain as a central pillar for attracting foreign and domestic investments.

Villasenor delivered these insights during his address at the Aboitiz InfraCapital Industrial Summit held on Friday, April 25.

In his remarks, Villasenor emphasized that boosting investor confidence must begin with eliminating corruption, implementing a clear and cohesive national strategy, and building a strong, differentiated value proposition. “We need to identify our niche and deliver a strategy that sets the Philippines apart,” he said.

He also called attention to the need for increased supply chain capacity and agility, particularly in light of rapid technological advancements and evolving global market dynamics.

“We have to anticipate and address changes, especially the impact of technology and the shifting patterns of demand and supply,” Villasenor noted. “The traditional baiting points—low labor cost and a young population—no longer hold the same weight in today’s global economy.”

The summit gathered key players from the infrastructure, logistics, and manufacturing sectors, aiming to explore opportunities and challenges in building competitive industrial zones. Villasenor’s insights align with PASIA’s mission to promote ethical, strategic, and future-ready procurement and supply chain practices across Asia.
