President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to conduct monthly job fairs nationwide, aiming to further expand employment opportunities for Filipinos. This directive was issued during the 123rd Labor Day celebrations in Pasay City.
He highlighted the success of previous job fairs, noting, “From July 2022 to February of this year, over 4,000 job fairs were conducted. These events saw the participation of over one million Filipinos, with nearly 170,000 hired on the spot.”
In conjunction with the Labor Day celebrations, the government, in collaboration with the private sector, has organized job fairs in 69 locations across the country since April 23rd.
President Marcos emphasized the government’s proactive approach in attracting both foreign and local investments to stimulate job creation. He reported that between 2022 and 2024, the Philippines secured approximately US$27 billion in investments. Investment Promotion Agencies also recorded over Php4.35 trillion in total investments during the same period, contributing to the creation of more than 350,000 jobs nationwide.
These economic developments have contributed to a significant improvement in the labor market. “The condition of our labor market continues to improve. This past February, our unemployment rate fell further to 3.8 percent,” the President announced, noting that the country has achieved its lowest unemployment rate in two decades, at 4.3 percent.
President Marcos also paid tribute to the Filipino workforce, acknowledging them as the “foundations and pillars” of Philippine society and contributors to economies worldwide
