DPWH completes Phase 2 of key road project linking Digos City and Bansalan

As part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Build Better More infrastructure program, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed Phase 2 of the road concreting project connecting Barangay Goma in Digos City to Sitio Bagong Silang in Barangay Managa, Bansalan, Davao del Sur.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, Regional Office XI Director Juby B. Cordon confirmed the completion of the three-kilometer Phase 2 segment, which aims to improve accessibility and strengthen transport connectivity between Digos City and the municipality of Bansalan. This follows the successful delivery of Phase 1 in 2023.

“The road project from Barangay Goma to Sitio Bagong Silang is a critical infrastructure link in Davao del Sur’s remote areas,” said Director Cordon. “It supports agricultural trade and boosts livelihood activities, contributing significantly to the region’s economic growth and development.”

The newly completed two-lane road also includes a reinforced concrete pipe culvert and a grouted riprap-lined canal. These features are designed to ensure proper drainage, enhance road durability, and safeguard infrastructure from extreme weather conditions.

Implemented by the DPWH Davao del Sur District Engineering Office, Phase 2 was funded with ₱96.5 million under the 2024 Regular Infrastructure Program. Civil works for Phase 3 began in March 2025 and are currently underway.
