Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon, Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian, and key officials from Mitsubishi Corporation recently led the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bulk Supply Substation 1, a crucial component of the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP).
The bulk supply substation will serve as the “backbone” of the subway’s energy infrastructure, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply for the entire metro system. Once completed, the Metro Manila Subway is expected to significantly reduce travel time for commuters, offering them the opportunity to spend more quality time with family or engage in other activities once reserved for long commutes.
The two-story substation will house two transformers that will connect directly to the Meralco switching station, enabling smoother and safer subway operations. The substation’s construction is a vital milestone in the development of the MMSP, which is anticipated to be completed by 2027.
