Nestlé PH and SF Group forge partnership to boost sustainable coffee farming in Mindanao

Nestlé Philippines and the SF Group of Companies (SFGC) have signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) formalizing a strategic partnership to advance sustainable and profitable Robusta coffee farming in Northern Cotabato.

At the heart of this collaboration is Sunfood Marketing Inc., a subsidiary of SFGC, which will lead the expansion of Robusta coffee cultivation in the region. As part of SFGC’s integrated agritech ecosystem—from farm inputs to food production—Sunfood will apply its deep expertise in agricultural technology and sustainable practices to drive productivity and efficiency on the ground.

This pioneering initiative marks a first-of-its-kind partnership for Nestlé in the Philippines and strengthens the Nescafé Plan, the company’s long-term commitment to uplifting Filipino smallholder coffee farmers. Through the Plan, farmers gain access to advanced agronomic practices, modern farming technologies, and essential business skills, all while integrating environmental sustainability and regenerative agriculture approaches that restore soil health and improve resilience to climate change.

Nestlé PH will also deliver technical assistance and capacity-building programs designed to empower farming communities and accelerate their development. This forms a key pillar of Nestlé’s broader roadmap toward responsible sourcing and its ambition to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

By aligning SFGC’s innovative farming solutions with Nestlé’s global standards in coffee cultivation, the partnership seeks to build a stronger agricultural value chain, expand economic opportunities for farmers, and foster a thriving Robusta coffee network in Northern Mindanao.

The collaboration will focus on scaling Robusta production under Sunfood’s Corporate Growership Program, supporting the rising domestic demand for coffee while enhancing Nestlé’s local sourcing capabilities. Ultimately, the initiative aims to strengthen the Philippine coffee industry’s path toward self-sufficiency and food security.
