The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) today announced the release of the mid-year bonus for qualified government workers, including military and uniformed personnel, effective immediately.
DBM Secretary Amenah “Mina” F. Pangandaman confirmed the timely distribution, stating, “Good news from our President Bongbong Marcos—starting May 15, our qualified government workers will begin receiving their mid-year bonus, which is equivalent to their one-month basic pay.”
A total of P63.695 billion has been allocated for the 2025 mid-year bonus. Of this, P47.587 billion is designated for civilian personnel, and P16.108 billion for military and uniformed personnel.
Secretary Pangandaman emphasized President Marcos’ commitment to recognizing the dedication of government employees. “Our President Bongbong Marcos believes that the timely or immediate release of mid-year bonuses to our employees is only appropriate as an appreciation for their sacrifice, hard work, and tireless service to our fellow Filipinos,” she said.
The DBM had proactively released the funds to implementing agencies in January 2025. Secretary Pangandaman urged heads of government agencies and Local Government Units (LGUs) to expedite the distribution of the bonus to their respective employees. “The funds for the mid-year bonus have been comprehensively released by the DBM to the implementing agencies in January 2025, which is why we respectfully call on our colleagues and heads of government agencies and LGUs to hopefully give the mid-year bonus to their respective employees as soon as possible,” she added.
DBM Budget Circular No. 2017-2 outlines the eligibility criteria for the mid-year bonus. To qualify, personnel must have rendered at least four months of service from July 1 of the preceding year to May 15 of the current year. They must also be in government service as of May 15, 2025, and have received at least a satisfactory performance rating in the most recent evaluation period.
The mid-year bonus covers a wide range of government personnel, including those in civilian positions (regular, casual, or contractual, full-time or part-time, in all branches of government, Constitutional Commissions, State Universities and Colleges, and Government-Owned or -Controlled Corporations covered by the Compensation and Position Classification System, as well as in LGUs) and military and uniformed personnel from various agencies such as the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Public Safety College, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Coast Guard, and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority.
