Lakas-CMD dominates elections, Speaker Romualdez pledges enhanced public service

The Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) has emerged as the dominant political force in the Philippines, securing overwhelming victories across all regions of the country.

Speaker Ferdinand Martin G.G. Romualdez, President of Lakas-CMD, hailed the results as “a victory of trust” and pledged an even greater resolve to serve the Filipino people.

Initial reports from Lakas-CMD Executive Director Anna Capella Velasco revealed the party’s significant electoral success:

  • 1 seat in the Senate
  • 104 seats in the House of Representatives
  • 15 governors
  • 22 vice governors
  • 24 city mayors
  • 23 city vice mayors
  • 385 municipal mayors

Velasco noted that reports from 26 areas, including the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Region IX (Sulu), and Region X (Lanao del Norte), are still being finalized, with updated figures expected shortly.

Speaker Romualdez characterized the outcome as “a sweeping vote of confidence” in Lakas-CMD’s leadership and dedication to public service. “This is not just a win for Lakas-CMD. This is a strong signal from the Filipino people: they want steady hands, clear direction, and leadership that puts service above self,” he stated.

The Speaker, a lawyer from the University of the Philippines (UP) and President of the Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa), emphasized that the mandate from the people is a solemn responsibility. “We are being called to do more—to govern better, to listen harder, and to deliver faster. That’s exactly what we intend to do,” he affirmed.

He highlighted that Lakas-CMD’s strength lies in the trust it has earned across the nation. “From the northern tip of Luzon to the southern reaches of Mindanao, the message is the same: the people want continuity, they want performance, and they want public servants they can count on,” Speaker Romualdez said.

Speaker Romualdez attributed the party’s nationwide success to its alignment with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s vision under the Bagong Pilipinas agenda. “We are here not just to win elections, but to change lives. This is the strength of a party that stands for unity, development, and real solutions,” he concluded.
