The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) reported that a strong tornado impacted the parking area of Baseport Ormoc yesterday, May 15, 2025, at approximately 3:34 p.m.
The severe weather event resulted in two tents, which were installed in the parking area, being blown away. Consequently, a nearby plant was uprooted and fell, causing minor scratches and dents to three (3) vehicles parked in the vicinity. Additionally, the canopy of the covered walkway situated near the tents sustained minor damage.
The PPA is relieved to report that no injuries were sustained by any individuals as a result of the tornado.
Currently, PPA personnel are actively working to remove the damaged tents from the parking area utilizing a PPA manlift.
The PPA assures the public that port operations at Baseport Ormoc remain unaffected by this isolated incident. Authorities are assessing the full extent of the minor damages and will undertake necessary repairs promptly.
