Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco today joined a distinguished roster of government officials and international guests at the World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM) for the opening ceremonies of the 18th edition of the International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines.
The event, a cornerstone for championing Filipino culinary excellence and innovation, is organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM).
The ceremonial ribbon-cutting marked the official commencement of the exhibition, led by Senator Mark Villar, Secretary Frasco, and DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque, and CITEM Executive Director Leah Pulido Ocampo. Their presence underscored the inter-agency commitment to bolstering the Philippine food industry.
Also in attendance were key representatives from various government agencies, including Office of the Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs (OSAPIEA) Undersecretary Ma. With more than 700 food exhibitors and over 10,000 local and international buyers, IFEX Philippines continues to solidify its reputation as the country’s premier food trade show. It serves as a vital platform for boosting market access for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and for passionately promoting the diverse and vibrant flavors of the Philippines to a global audience.
By actively supporting significant events such as IFEX Philippines and the upcoming Terra Madre Asia Pacific 2025 in Bacolod, alongside strategic initiatives like the National Food and Gastronomy Tourism Roadmap and the Philippine Experience Program: Heritage, Culture, and Arts Caravan, the DOT reaffirms its unwavering commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and global competitiveness within the tourism sector. This steadfast dedication is fostered through strong partnerships with stakeholders across the entire Philippine food industry.
