PBBM’s call for Cabinet secretaries’ courtesy resignation quite surprising – PCCI

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the country’s voice of business, has expressed surprise at President Marcos’ call for courtesy resignation of his Cabinet secretaries.

“Quite surprising,” stated a PCCI statement on the President’s action, “given that that government has been performing relatively well in managing the economy. It is just unfortunate that economic growth has been undermined by developments at the political front.”

The group tried to imply that the reorganization of the Cabinet may come in the way of joint government and private sectors  efforts to get more investments for the country especially with the passage of the CREATE MORE Act and the Public Private Partnership Code.

“We want to continue fostering economic growth and investor confidence,” PCCI said.

Hence, the business group expressed hope that the courtesy resignations will bring in accountable and merit-based appointments.

PCCI also wants the President to retain those Cabinet secretaries who have delivered and performed well, and that new and re-appointments be done the soonest possible time to avoid uncertainty and instability and so as not to derail economic continuity.
