Pres. Marcos Jr. calls for cabinet courtesy resignations to realign government with public expectations

In a decisive move aimed at ushering in a new era of performance-driven governance, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has requested the courtesy resignation of all Cabinet secretaries. The announcement signals a major reset in the administration’s approach, designed to ensure that the government is aligned with the evolving expectations and urgent needs of the Filipino people.

“This is not business as usual,” President Marcos declared. “The people have spoken, and they expect results, not politics, not excuses. We hear them, and we will act.”

The request for courtesy resignations provides the President with the space to evaluate the performance of each department, to form a leadership team that reflects the administration’s sharpened priorities. The President stressed that this initiative is grounded in principles of merit, performance, and accountability, not personal politics.

“This is not about personalities—it’s about performance, alignment, and urgency,” he added. “Those who have delivered and continue to deliver will be recognized. But we cannot afford to be complacent. The time for comfort zones is over.”

The administration assures the public that government services will remain uninterrupted during this transition. President Marcos underscored that stability, continuity, and meritocracy will be key criteria in reshaping his Cabinet.

This step marks a strategic shift from the foundational phase of governance to a more agile, results-oriented mode. With the reset, the Marcos administration aims to accelerate progress on its most critical goals: economic recovery, job creation, social services reform, and national resilience.

“It’s time to realign government with the people’s expectations,” the President concluded. “We are committed to a government that works harder, responds faster, and delivers better for every Filipino.”
