Tourism Sec. Christina Garcia Frasco tenders courtesy resignation

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco today announced she has tendered her courtesy resignation to President Marcos, Jr, emphasizing her unwavering support for the administration’s “people-first” agenda and its transformative vision for the Philippine tourism sector.

In a statement, Secretary Frasco affirmed, “I serve at the pleasure of the President, and I have always supported his administration’s call to put the people first.” She highlighted the significant strides made under her leadership in aligning tourism development with the President’s overarching goals.

“In pursuit of the President’s vision, we have sought to transform tourism to be more than just travel, but a unifying force for good, creating jobs, honoring our culture, and helping communities thrive,” the Secretary stated. This approach has positioned tourism as a vital engine for economic growth and social progress across the archipelago.

Under President Marcos Jr.’s leadership, the tourism sector has indeed become a cornerstone of the national economy, providing employment to millions of Filipinos and contributing substantially to the country’s GDP.

Secretary Frasco reiterated her commitment to the sector’s continued success, stating, “As I await the President’s decision, I shall continue to support his vision of improving the lives of those who depend on tourism for their livelihood.” She concluded with a powerful message in Visayan, “Bisan asa ko ibutang, magpabilin ko nga alagad sa katawhan,” which translates to “Wherever I may be placed, I will remain a servant of the people.”
