Dizon warns driver’s license fixers, online scammers

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon warned online scammers and driver’s license fixers that the government will go after them to stop their illegal activities of duping the public and compromising road safety.

The move came after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Land Transportation Office – Philippines (LTO), and concerned agencies to fix the system, ensuring road safety.

“Lahat ng magpo-post ng online scam huhulihin natin at ipapakulong natin. 12 years po kayong makukulong at kung hindi kayo natatakot dun, sige hintayin n’yo na lang na makulong kayo,” Secretary Dizon said during a press presentation of an arrested suspect Thursday.

The LTO and Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) arrested online scammers selling fake driver’s license and person with disability (PWD) ID.

Secretary Dizon pointed out that selling fake driver’s license to unqualified drivers could result to road crash fatalities.

The transport chief added that apart from online fixers, the LTO has suspended 107 driving schools involved in ‘no show’ certificates and non-compliance with the proper theoretical driver’s training.

“Kaya kami nandito ngayon para ipakita sa lahat, lalong lalo na sa mga kagaya niya (scammer) na nang-aabuso sa ating mga kababayan, na hindi nila alam ‘yung ginagawanila ay potentially makakamatay ng mga kababayan natin sa kalye.” said Secretary Dizon.
