Ocean Network Express (ONE) announced a significant advancement in its commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible practices with the implementation of a new Ship Recycling Policy and its official membership in the Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative (SRTI). These strategic moves underscore ONE’s dedication to enhancing transparency, promoting ethical operations, and upholding high environmental standards throughout the entire lifecycle of its vessels.
As ONE’s owned fleet continues to expand, the company is strengthening its resolve to ensure the safe and environmentally responsible decommissioning of ships at the end of their operational life. The newly established Ship Recycling Policy mandates that all ONE vessels be recycled exclusively at certified and reputable facilities that adhere to applicable international regulations and standards.
In joining the SRTI, ONE will voluntarily disclose its ship recycling policies and practices, contributing to the initiative’s broader efforts to enhance accountability and sustainability within the maritime industry. The SRTI encourages shipowners to provide transparent data, fostering a more responsible approach to ship recycling globally.

ONE’s announcement comes just weeks before the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships (HKC) officially enters into force on June 26, 2025. The HKC stipulates that vessel recycling must be conducted in a manner that poses no unnecessary risk to human health, safety, and the environment. ONE’s proactive measures align seamlessly with the spirit and requirements of this crucial international convention.
