In a significant milestone for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), the Philippine government officially opened the DMW–OWWA OFW Global Center on Sunday, marking a major step in bringing essential services closer to Filipinos abroad.
Leading the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony were House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan, and Philippine Consul General to Hong Kong Romulo Victor Israel Jr. They were joined by distinguished members of Congress, senior officials from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and partner government agencies, all united in their mission to provide one-stop, on-site support for OFWs in Hong Kong.
The newly established OFW Global Center, located on the 18th floor of United Centre in Admiralty, is designed as a hub for whole-of-government agencies to extend assistance and services to Filipino workers overseas.
Among the honored guests were Chairperson Jude Acidre, Deputy Speaker Raymond Democrito Mendoza, Representative Yedda Marie Romualdez, Representative Andrew Julian Romualdez, and Representative Ma. Alana Samantha Santos.
The grand opening also marked the official launch of the Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: Serbisyo Caravan 2025, a large-scale initiative aimed at delivering government services directly to OFWs in Hong Kong. The festivities continued with a grand parade at Chater Road, Central, in coordination with the Migrant Workers Office.
