Bulacan Airport project completion is main SMC focus – RSA

Ramon S. Ang, San Miguel Corp. chairman and CEO, said the main focus of the conglomerate is to complete its massive Bulacan Airport project.

Ang stressed this when asked by a stockholder during the SMC group’s stockholders’ meeting on June 10, 2025. “Our main focus is to complete the massive Bulacan airport,” said Ang.

In saying this, Ang noted of the need for the New Manila International Airport or Bulacan Airport to support the country’s growing tourism industry. He said it would mean a great deal for the country if once completed the Bulacan airport could contribute 30 million tourists to the current 7 million foreign tourist arrivals.

The Bulacan Airport is projected to cost PHP735 billion, approximately USD13.9 billion, which SMC is developing the through San Miguel Aerocity Inc.

SMC is also the main proponent of the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) consortium responsible for the ongoing modernization of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Ang noted that the ongoing measures NNIC is implementing at NAIA complex has eased congestion at the country’s major international gateway. These include rearranging  flight arrivals that resulted in lesser congestion in major roads, resulting in more carrying capacity for the tollways and expressway, he said.

NNIC estimated the NAIA rehabilitation project to cost PHP170.6 billion.
