Green and Smart Mobility (GSM), a private company founded by VinFast Chief Executive Officer and Vingroup Corporation Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, officially launched Green GSM, the first foreign-owned all-electric taxi service to enter the Philippine market.
The launch on June 10, 2025, marked GSM’s fourth international market, following Vietnam, Laos, and Indonesia.
Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina A. Roque and Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Secretary Frederick Go welcomed the launch of Green GSM Philippines as the country’s first fully foreign-owned electric vehicle operator.
DTI said that Green GSM will initially deploy 2,500 electric vehicles. The service will operate an exclusive fleet of VinFast Nerio Green EVs.
“Under President Marcos’ leadership, we are advancing sustainability and digitalization through the ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ vision—fostering an environment where investors like Green GSM can thrive and uplift Filipino lives,” said DTI Secretary Roque.
She also affirmed that this initiative is more than a business launch. It opens up new possibilities such as cleaner air, greater employment, safer and more comfortable commuting, and a concrete contribution to the country’s climate action agenda.
Roque said the launch of Green GSM Philippines underscores a vital public-private partnership for inclusive and sustainable growth. It demonstrates that when people, planet, and innovation come together, the nation moves forward as a greener, stronger, and more future-ready country.
