Property titan Megaworld has officially commenced a significant Php 2.5-billion redevelopment initiative for Eastwood City, its pioneering township development. This ambitious project aims to reimagine, reinvent, and revitalize the commercial areas, alongside select residential and office developments that have been integral to the township for many years.
The comprehensive redevelopment plan focuses on enhancing the overall lifestyle experience within Eastwood City. Currently, the company is upgrading its commercial areas and lifestyle malls, including the popular Eastwood Citywalk, Eastwood Mall, and the Eastwood Mall Open Park. The initiative also encompasses the ongoing enhancement of the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel and a phased refurbishment of office towers, beginning with the recently completed renovation of IBM Plaza. Future plans include extensive upgrades to the lobbies, facilities, and amenities of additional office and residential towers, with renovations rolling out in the coming months to reinvigorate the entire township.
Significant progress has already been made in key areas. Eastwood Mall, the township’s premier lifestyle destination, has undergone a complete transformation, boasting refreshed interiors, upgraded cinemas, and a vibrant new tenant mix. Notably, select areas of the mall have been converted into exciting new lifestyle concepts, featuring the country’s first branch of SuperPark Philippines, a Finnish all-in-one indoor activity park, offering a unique family entertainment experience.
Renovation works are also complete at Eastwood Citywalk, where the beloved nightlife destination, Fuente Circle, now showcases a bold, Bourbon-inspired façade. Its former cinema space has been reimagined as the new REP Eastwood Theater, which proudly serves as the new home for the renowned Philippine theater company, Repertory Philippines, enriching the cultural landscape of the township. Furthermore, the fourth floor of Eastwood Citywalk has been ingeniously redesigned into a modern Food Park, offering updated interiors and ambiance, complemented by a curated mix of new and exciting dining concepts.
Beyond commercial spaces, redevelopment efforts are also well underway for the township’s parks and open spaces. This includes the revitalization of the Eastwood Mall Open Park, which is set to become a vibrant open-air space. It will feature a diverse array of popular dining and lifestyle brands such as Harlan + Holden, SaladStop!, Matcha Tokyo, and Jamba Juice, among others, creating a dynamic communal hub.
“Eastwood City holds a special place in our history as Megaworld’s very first township, and this redevelopment reflects our commitment to keeping it vibrant, relevant, and future-ready,” says Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, president of Megaworld. “We are not only preserving its legacy but also reinventing it into a township of the future—setting an even higher standard for integrated urban living.”
Eastwood City, an 18.5-hectare township launched in 1997, holds historical significance as Megaworld’s inaugural mixed-use development. Recognized as the country’s first IT cyberpark, it is widely regarded as the birthplace of the BPO industry in the Philippines, serving as headquarters to numerous global companies and multinational firms. Today, Eastwood City is a thriving urban center, home to 23 residential condominium towers, 11 office buildings, and three lifestyle malls, with nearly 500 restaurants and shops operating throughout its vibrant commercial areas, establishing it as a bustling hub for work, living, and leisure.
