Pres. Marcos Jr. urges Filipino-Chinese business leaders to champion SMEs

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called upon the newly elected officers of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) to prioritize the empowerment of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and drive innovation within the nation’s industries. The President’s remarks came during the oath-taking ceremony of FFCCCII officials in Binondo, Manila.

President Marcos emphasized the critical role of SMEs in achieving inclusive growth, stating, “Your leadership should not only focus on large enterprises. It is just as crucial that you empower small and medium-sized businesses. By uplifting them, you are also uplifting the entire economy and the entire nation.”

Acknowledging the FFCCCII’s significant contributions to commerce and national development over the years, President Marcos challenged the federation to guide Philippine industries towards a future of innovation. “I challenge you now to lead with clarity. Steer our industries towards innovative strategies that are globally competitive, sustainable, and ready for the future,” he urged.

The President also reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a more responsive and investor-friendly business environment through key economic reforms. These reforms include the Green Lanes for Strategic Investments initiative, designed to expedite the processing of crucial investments and reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and the CREATE MORE Act, which simplifies the tax system and offers performance-based incentives to attract both foreign and local investments.

“All these initiatives send a clear and resounding message: The Philippines is open for business and partnerships that uplift lives and transform communities,” President Marcos concluded.
