President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally inspected the Amandayehan Port in Samar on Wednesday, emphasizing the urgent need to address the significant inconvenience and limited flow of traffic currently experienced at the San Juanico Bridge. His visit underscores the administration’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure and ensuring the efficient movement of goods and people across the region.
During his inspection, President Marcos Jr. issued clear directives to accelerate the port’s development. He ordered the immediate continuation of clearing operations and the expedited completion of additional Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) ramps. This expansion will allow a greater number of trucks and vehicles to utilize ferry services, thereby diverting traffic from the heavily used San Juanico Bridge.
Furthermore, the President mandated the installation of crucial aids to navigation within the port area, to be completed this June.
These vital installations, including lights, markers, and buoys, will serve as essential guides for marine vessels, significantly enhancing safety and ensuring secure travel in and around the Amandayehan Port.
The President’s proactive measures at Amandayehan Port are expected to substantially ease the burden on the San Juanico Bridge, facilitating smoother logistics and improving connectivity for residents and businesses in Samar and surrounding areas.
