President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. today called upon all civil servants to embody heroism in their daily duties, emphasizing the critical role of public service in honoring the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes. The President’s remarks were delivered during the 127th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence and the “Parada ng Kalayaan 2025” held at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.
In his speech, President Marcos Jr. urged public servants to uphold accountability by delivering prompt and high-quality service to the Filipino people. He underscored that true heroism in governance translates to responsiveness and dedication to the welfare of every citizen.
“Tayong mga kagawad ng pamahalaan, mga tagapagmana ng kalayaan, huwag nating sayangin ang pagkakataon at tiwalang ipinagkaloob sa atin. Pananagutan. ‘Yan ang sigaw ng sambayanan,” President Marcos stated, reinforcing the public’s demand for responsible governance.
The President also issued a stern warning against abuse of authority, misuse of position, or neglect of responsibilities, stressing that such actions will be met with accountability. “Papanagutin natin hindi lang ang mga umaabuso sa tungkulin, maging ang mga nagkukulang sa paglilingkod,” he added, reiterating the government’s commitment to address the daily needs of Filipinos.
President Marcos Jr. highlighted that the populace demands tangible action and efficient, quality service from government agencies. He cited pressing issues such as dilapidated infrastructure, high food prices, and power shortages as examples of areas requiring immediate and effective government intervention.
“Mula sa sirang tulay, kalsada, mahal na pagkain, kakulangan ng kuryente—ang nais ng taumbayan ay tunay na pagkilos at serbisyo. Ang solusyon ay ang pagpapaginhawa ng buhay ng bawat isa,” the President affirmed. He further enjoined public servants to “Bilisan ang pagtugon sa pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan, taasan ang kalidad ng serbisyo, at iwasto ang ating pagkukulang.”
Concluding his message, President Marcos Jr. underscored that the true essence of freedom is realized when Filipino families have food on their tables, access to proper transportation and medicine, and dignity in their work. “Dahil mas madadama ng Pilipino ang kalayaan kung may pagkain sa hapag, may maayos na transportasyon, may gamot para sa mga may sakit, at may dignidad ang bawat manggagawa,” he concluded, emphasizing that these fundamental aspects are crucial for Filipinos to fully experience the benefits of independence.
