The Philippine Retailers Association (PRA), the Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines (SCMAP), and the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Supply Chain and Logistics Group (SCLG) will officially launch the Section G: Job Blueprint for Wholesale & Retail Trade on June 16, 2025.
The Blueprint provides a comprehensive framework aimed at enhancing competitiveness and generating employment in the wholesale and retail trade sector.
“Our wholesale and retail sector are the backbone of countless Filipino families—from sari-sari store owners to hardworking retail workers. In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s vision for a future-ready and inclusive economy, this blueprint ensures no Filipino is left behind as we modernize and grow,” said Secretary Cristina A. Roque.
The blueprint was developed through extensive consultations with various wholesalers, retailers, industry experts, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide, including stakeholder dialogues, surveys, focus group discussions, and inputs gathered from the 2024 Wholesale and Retail Trade Forum.
The wholesale and retail sector significantly contributes to the Philippine economy, accounting for PHP 4.9 trillion (18% of GDP) and employing 10.2 million individuals (21% of the workforce) as of 2024.
Coinciding with the launch is a two-day job fair at the 4th Floor, Cyberzone, SM North EDSA Annex. Spearheaded by DTI’s esteemed partners—the PRA, SCMAP, and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)—the fair offers on-the-spot hiring opportunities from leading employers in the retail, logistics, and supply chain industries.
