Seaports prepare for school opening

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has strengthened security and safety measures at all ports in anticipation of an influx of passengers as students return to schools.

As part of Oplan Byaheng Ayos: Balik Eskwela 2025, PPA General Manager Jay Santiago stated that even before the school opening, Port Management Offices (PMOs) nationwide had already prepared for the expected surge in passengers.

In Luzon, the PPA PMO NCR North coordinated with NorthPort, 2Go Shipping Lines, and other agencies to prepare for the school opening. They focused on security, contingency plans, and ensuring the smooth flow of passengers at the ports.

In the Visayas, the PMO Western Leyte/Biliran successfully held a pre-activation coordination meeting in Ormoc City to discuss emergency protocols at the Port of Ormoc. The Port Police Division also inspected security equipment and reviewed disaster preparedness measures, especially during the rainy season.

Meanwhile, in Mindanao, the PMO Agusan coordinated with law enforcement agencies and port stakeholders to ensure security and proper maintenance of security equipment. They also conducted refresher training for personnel, carried out post-inspection checks, and performed access control drills.

Additionally, the PMO Soccsargen and PMO Zamboanga supported Brigada Eskwela activities.
