President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. issued a firm directive to all government officials, declaring that the entire bureaucracy is now “on probation” and reiterating that under his administration, governance will no longer be “business as usual.”
In the latest episode of the BBM Podcast aired Monday, President Marcos emphasized the need for performance and accountability across all levels of government, warning that those who fail to meet expectations will be removed from service.
“Just like in the military: you’re given an order, you’re expected to deliver. If you don’t, you’re relieved. Next. That’s the approach we must take,” the President said.
Stressing that public service must rise above personal ties and traditional practices, the President made it clear that friendships or loyalties will not be a shield for poor performance.
“Kahit kaibigan kita, kahit mahal kita — if you can’t do the job, you have to go. This is not about personal relationships; this is about service to the Filipino people,” he said.
President Marcos also reiterated his earlier order for a continuing performance review of all officials, signaling a strong stance against complacency in the face of the nation’s pressing challenges.
“I refuse to accept ‘business as usual’ because that’s what led us to these long-standing problems. We’ve spent decades operating this way — and where has it brought us?” the President asked.
He further stressed the urgency of meeting government targets on time and delivering real results.
“I’m going to be very, very strict. We need to hit our targets — that’s the bottom line. If you’re not going to help, then step aside and let those who are willing to work get the job done,” he concluded.
