The province of Bohol welcomed 145 international tourists on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, with the arrival of the Portuguese-flagged expedition vessel, MV Heritage Adventurer. The ship, carrying American and Australian nationals among its passengers and 87 crew members, arrived from Daram Island, Samar, marking a significant boost for local tourism.
The Philippine Ports Authority – Port Management Office (PPA-PMO) Bohol played a crucial role in ensuring a seamless visit. They designated a Safe Anchorage Ground for the 124.8-meter-long vessel, which has a Gross Registered Tonnage of 8,445, and promptly granted clearance for the foreign visitors to disembark.
During their day-long exploration of Bohol, the tourists immersed themselves in the province’s world-renowned attractions. Highlights of their itinerary included the iconic Chocolate Hills, the conservation-focused Tarsier Sanctuary, and the pristine waters of Balicasag Island. Following their enriching visit to Bohol, the MV Heritage Adventurer set sail for Bucas Grande Island in Surigao del Norte.
This visit aligns with the Philippine government’s commitment, led by President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., to invigorate the nation’s tourism sector.
The PPA’s efficient handling of the MV Heritage Adventurer’s call underscores its dedication to showcasing the Philippines’ natural beauty to a global audience and enhancing the country’s appeal as a premier tourist destination.
