Passenger car sales dip 21.4% in Jan-May

Sales of passenger cars substantially slowed down by 21.4 percent in the January-May period this year, driving total car sales to a flat growth in the first five months of the year, a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) showed.

The joint report showed that motor vehicle sales reached 190,429 units as of May 2025 this year, reflecting a modest 1.7 percent growth versus sales in the same period last year of 187,191 units.

Of total sales, the passenger car segment sold only a total of 38,725 units or 21.4 percent lower than the 49,247 units in Jan-May period 2024.

Meanwhile, commercial vehicle sales registered a 10 percent increase to 151,704 units from 137,944 units in the comparative period last year to end the period in a flat growth mode.

Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation remains the dominant market player with 48.13% share, followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation with 19.23 percent, Nissan Philippines, Inc. with 5.19 percent, Suzuki Philippines, Inc. with 4.68 percent and Ford Group Philippines at 4.49 percent share.
