Private sector unites to boost MSME logistics through new supply chain and logistics center

A wide array of private sector companies and groups, including the Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines (SCMAP), pledged their support for the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) new Supply Chain and Logistics Center (SCLC). This landmark initiative aims to significantly enhance logistics support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country.

The ceremonial pledging of support took place at the DTI headquarters in Makati City, led by DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque and DTI Undersecretary Mary Jean Pacheco.

The SCLC will initially launch with a phone hotline and an online portal, serving as accessible points of contact for MSMEs seeking solutions to their logistics-related queries. A physical support center is currently under construction within the DTI offices and is expected to open its doors later this year. The long-term vision for the SCLC includes expanding to DTI regional offices, offering comprehensive information, “white-glove” services, preferential discounts, and expert knowledge contributions to MSMEs.

DTI Secretary Roque highlighted the SCLC as a key component of the Marcos administration’s commitment to strengthening MSMEs, recognizing their vital role in the Philippine economy.

Beyond SCMAP, other prominent industry players pledging their support include 2GO, Airspeed, Cebu Pacific Cargo, DHL Supply Chain, F2 Logistics, Fast Logistics, FedEx, Grab Express, Laguna Gateway Inland Container Terminal, Lalamove, LBC Express, Maersk Omnichannel Fulfillment, Philippine Airlines Cargo, San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation, Yello X Supply Chain Solutions, and the Philippine Multimodal Transport and Logistics Association.

In his address, SCMAP President Dennis Llovido articulated his vision for the SCLC as a central information hub for all stakeholders, empowering companies to make more informed and timely decisions. SCMAP, with the assistance of its Supply Chain Leaders Advisory Council, will also play a crucial role in refining the service offerings of the SCLC.

This collaborative effort between the DTI and the private sector marks a significant step forward in optimizing the logistics landscape for Philippine MSMEs, fostering their growth and competitiveness in the national and global markets.
