President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed all relevant government agencies to expedite the safe and orderly repatriation of more than 200 Filipinos affected by the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.
In a recorded message on Monday, President Marcos emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of overseas Filipinos amid rising regional tensions.
“I have directed all concerned government agencies to take the necessary steps to ensure the safe, timely, and orderly return of Filipinos who wish to avail of the voluntary repatriation program,” the President stated.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), is spearheading the repatriation efforts. DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac is currently in Amman, Jordan, to receive the first group of 26 repatriates from Israel. The DFA has raised Alert Level 3 in both Israel and Iran, activating voluntary repatriation protocols.
“In Israel alone, we are processing over 200 repatriation requests and working quickly to bring our kababayans home,” said President Marcos. “Some have chosen to remain at work, and we respect their decision while continuing to offer support.”
President Marcos confirmed that the government is providing comprehensive assistance to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), including food packs and financial aid. Many affected individuals are being housed at the Migrant Workers Office hostel, with additional accommodations available as needed.
The President also addressed the condition of a Filipino caregiver currently hospitalized in Israel. “She remains stable but under oxygen support and a ventilator. We are closely monitoring her condition and are in constant communication with her family to ensure she receives the best possible care,” he said.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the repatriation of an initial group of eight Filipinos from Iran.
Upon their return to the Philippines, repatriated individuals will receive immediate government support, including Php150,000 in financial assistance, temporary accommodation, transportation, and access to livelihood support and training vouchers.
President Marcos reiterated the government’s long-term commitment to reintegration, offering programs such as skills training, job matching, seed capital, and small business support for those who choose to remain in the Philippines.
“I urge our fellow Filipinos to stay in close contact with our embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran. Please inform them of your situation and seek assistance when needed,” the President said. “The safety and well-being of every Filipino will always be our highest priority.”
