The government extending fuel subsidy to public utility vehicles (PUV) drivers and operators, including those not yet part of the consolidated groups, affected by the big time oil price increase due to the Middle East crisis.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) have been directed by the President to implement the subsidy program immediately.
In a statement, the DOTR said that the fuel subsidy is inclusive to all PUV drivers and operators whether they are already part of the consolidated groups or not yet.
The DOTr and LTFRB are also coordinating with various government agencies, including the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) for faster distribution of the fuel assistance.
