DOTr lauds CAB’s decisive action against AirAsia MOVE for excessive fares

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) commended the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) for its prompt and decisive action in imposing a substantial penalty on AirAsia MOVE. The penalty of ₱6 million was levied against the airline’s booking platform after it was found to have displayed excessive and unreasonable airfares.

This swift enforcement by the CAB directly supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which emphasizes the importance of ensuring that all Filipinos have access to safe, fair, and affordable travel options.

“The DOTr stands firmly behind the Civil Aeronautics Board’s strong action,” stated a DOTr spokesperson. “The ₱6 million penalty imposed on AirAsia MOVE sends an unequivocal message: the Philippine government will not tolerate any form of abuse targeting Filipino passengers, especially concerning essential services like air travel.”

The DOTr reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the rights of the commuting public and to holding accountable any entities that violate established consumer protection regulations. This action underscores the government’s dedication to maintaining transparency and fairness within the transportation sector.
